Having grown up in Wisconsin and New Jersey we never saw these things until we moved south. They grow pretty wild here. We planted this one as a "pup" in the front yard the year we moved here. This year it's taller than we are and it BLOOMED!! (Not uncommon, just a first for us.) Can't even tell you what it's called - just a "spikey" cactus I guess.
